The launch party of the Mercedes Me Cafe in Melbourne at the end of November, 2017 was so much fun. It was a night of glam people and sexy cars (or glam cars and sexy people?!?!)
The first part of the evening was held in the lobby of the Rialto Towers in Melbourne's CBD. It was a veryyy hot evening, so after checking in and receiving a cool glowing bracelet (which signified that we were guests for the night) I quickly got a nice cold champagne in my hand! After mingling with some fellow guests and a few more glasses of champagne it was time for the arrivals of the special guests! These special guests included Jasmine from 'Friend in Fashion', some Formula 1 race car drivers (#sorrynotsorry here for the champagne, food, fashion and fast cars more than who is behind the wheel!), and some of the folks from St Ali coffee roasters. Even for a non car expert like myself, I still appreciated the awesome F 015 self driving concept car! While all these cool arrivals were happening, I was standing around sweltering in my leopard print dress from Zimmerman. It's a great dress from a few years ago, but 30 degree celsius nights a full tulle skirts don't go well together- but thats okay, thats what cold champagne is for, right? Some of the food that was served included lobster rolls - which were actually really spicy even though the waitress promised they weren't- sliders, salmon blinis on chips instead of savoury pancakes. I was interviewed by Brodie Harper from channel 9's Postcards tv show about the opening. She asked me what my first and favourite memories of Mercedes are and I said how my family has always driven mercedes and that I was very lucky to get a B class for my 18th birthday. I'm not very good on camera so that was pretty daunting! Eventually we were ushered down into the actual cafe space where Matt Corby performed a few songs; including Brother and Resolution, which is lucky because they are the only two songs I know of his! Ross from St Ali gave me a tour of the Mercedes fitted coffee roaster machine which was really cool even though i didn't understand half of what he told me! Basically the machine is made with parts from actual mercedes cars, from the air intake to the cooling tray for the beans! We danced until late, but somehow I managed to find time to have a chat to the gorgeous Matt Corby as well as introducing myself to the lovely beauty blogger Gemma Watts @gemmkwatts. When we finally left at 12.30 AM(!) we were treated to a great gift bag filled with a four pillars 'Bloody Gin' which is shiraz infused gin, a frank green keep cup as well as some St Ali coffee beans of course! It was a great way to celebrate the opening of the cafe and I can't wait to go back to experience the space again during the day sometime soon!
