Located in the heart of Toorak village, Monkey Bean Café is the perfect place to pull up a chair and grab some delicious breakfast or lunch. But a warning held is that service busy or not is often slow, prepare to wait. The proud owner, Jedda Millington, grew up in Papua New Guinea so she knows the importance of having fresh and good quality food. There is a classic menu and Jedda adds a special twist on all of her dishes.
My favourite dish of all time is defiantly a good quality eggs benedict. I have found it hard lately to find a good, satisfying eggs benedict without it being, gluten free, egg free, paleo verified, nut free, and food free! I absolutely love the eggs beno at Monkey Bean. The satisfy yellow yolk (inside everyone of Jedda's fresh eggs) comes poring out as soon as you puncture the egg. The bacon it some of the best bacon i have ever had in my life. Hollandaise. One word, one-million, often disappointing, variations. I am a hollandaise expert. Where ever i go i always get the eggs benedict for the hollandaise sauce. I have had my fair share of disappointing and grotti hollandaise sauces but the sauce at monkey bean is fantastic. It has a certain degree of sourness and i absolutely love that! All of the fresh products that Jedda uses complement each other in the best ways possible.
As well as a wide range of food, Monkey Bean also offers an extensive range of teas from T2 and coffees from allpress beans. My favourite coffee/hot chocolate is the Mochas. The baristas at monkey bean have create it beautifully every time!
