So last week I drove all the way to Thomastown for donuts. This is nearly an hours drive away from me- can I call this a donut addiction yet?
Mick's Place is an unassuming general store just off Thomastown's main street. The red and white tiled exterior is eye catching and fun, seemingly a nod to stereotypical corner stores of yesteryears.
Inside it really is just a general store with bits and pieces of typical things. However the counter is home to a display of a range of donuts from classic Nutella flavour (apparently they're famous for it) , peanut butter and jam donuts (which where my favourite of theirs!) to crazy things like cookies and cream!
Yes the donuts were good, and it was a fun adventure going to a new area. However, the doughnuts were extremely doughy and before you got the the middle of it, it tasted like you were eating plain white bread!!
If you're dedicated to your donuts, make a day out of it and drive over there- but there's also heaps of donut places around Melbourne too so dont rush out there too quickly! Mick's Place is here to stay, that much is obvious!
How far would you drive for donuts?
