Located in the popular Dundas Place shopping strip, the Albert Park Deli has become an institution in the area, with regulars coming back day after day (or hour after hour in the case of the die hard fans!), for the consistently good coffee and friendly familiar faces.
The Albert Park Deli has been family run for 41 years and counting, and has always used the popular Moccapan coffee roasters, specifically "Roast 54" blend. Using their Simonelli T3 machine for everything from your weak flat white to double espresso, there's no frills attached, just good old fashioned good coffee!
The Deli part of the name comes from the fabulous proud display of house made pastas, pies, desserts and everything in between! All can be ordered to have sitting down at one of their comfy inside seats or beautiful outdoor area, or even packaged and taken home! I love their hedgehog so much that I ordered 50 slices of it and served it instead of cake at my 18th birthday party, which was a great idea because there was no silliness cutting up cake!
Nearly the same size as the meals fridge is the cheese fridge, which will send any cheese lover into a frenzy. A beautiful array of Australian cheeses are waiting for you to take on your next picnic adventure. The double and triple cream bries from King Island are a favourite, but for the more adventurous there are also a few blue cheese options too!
The interiors haven't been upgraded to join the instagram aesthetics-driven trend that we are seeing across all young cafes, but instead let's the huge family portrait out the back and subtle Greek icons give a nod of acknowledgement to the family's heritage.
However, the outdoor area has been given a recent facelift. The new blonde timber bench tables go perfectly with the red Tolix stools. For those who can't sit comfortably without a back rest, there are still outdoor tables with the classic silver metal chair. Pretty little flower accents laid out individually for each table brighten up the space, go nicely with the red accents of the cafe and give a nice reference to the larger flower wall marking their boundary.
The staff are super friendly, you'll always see a familiar face working when you walk through the door!
If you're lucky enough to have Billy working, ask him for a chocolate milkshake with extra chocolate - so good you won't even feel guilty for the indulgence.
A Number 1 tram stop is located right outside the Albert Park Deli, so there's no excuse not to get down and try it out! Perfect to pop into on your way to/from the beach.
