White lino floors, blonde timber chairs and tables, white painted brick walls, protein balls, raw desserts, cold brew, filter coffees, 5 senses beans, chai man chai... Another typical place. Sigh.
Mammoth coffee and food is located on the corner of Beatty Avenue and Malvern Rd and it's is the sixth coffee shop to open on the illustrious block.
This place is only mammoth by name. There are only 3 tiny outdoor chairs that don't get any afternoon sun (mammoth of a disappointment), the inside section is poorly designed with waiters and customers crashing into each other trying to navigate the small space . If a mammoth walked through the room, everything would be squished and the mammoth would be sad because there is no logo of a mammoth nor are there any cool paintings of mammoths. Seriously, they need to invest in a boobalicious Bromley or another avante garde artwork to give more personality to the space.
There are small Sonos speakers in the corners of the room, but due to the lack of noise management you can't hear any tunes. Therefore, the place lacks any cool vibes as you have to yell over each other to have a conversation. If an actual mammoth roared you wouldn't even hear it.
The menu has 20 different options, with most of them being gluten free or vegan, if not both! The all day style dining is full of interesting takes on traditional items.
The eggs Benedict is served with maple syrup hollandaise which compliments the fluffy blini perfectly whilst providing an interesting flavour with the yummy duck sausage.
They do Avocado toast very specially here, served with about 7 avocados on yummy brown bread. Served with slow poached eggs, aka coddled eggs, it's a different take on the standard avocado on toast.
Of course they have a range of raw desserts that are gluten free and vegan! We tasted the raspberry slice which had a very nice texture but lacked any read strong flavour.
The 5senses beans in the synesso machine make a nice smooth coffee. But they also have a range of filter and cold brew styles available that I will be going back to try!
Definitely a must try if you're in the area, but there isn't anything special on offer that you should go out of your way for.
The competition that is happening on this block is astounding, and we can't wait to see how it develops.
Will you give this place a try?
