Only a short walk from the Florida Gardens tram stop, Elk food and coffee is worth going the distance for.
If you're lucky enough to get an outdoor table then you'll almost be able to see the ocean front but you'll definitely have fun views of the community soccer pitch.
Service is a bit inconsistent, which you expect from looking at the very young waitresses. Some tables, like mine, get served very quickly and nicely whereas others get forgotten about and have to ask to order or remind someone that they are waiting on food!
The menu is very extravagant covering all bases with a range of healthy and indulgent options. However for the small portions you get, the meals are a bit overpriced.
They have a standard la Mazzacco coffee machine which produces standard and reasonable coffee. The speciality filter coffee is available too, and is served in a funky decanter that you pour into your cup yourself! Super instagram worthy! Similarly, the milkshakes are served in mason jars with easy to drink from thick plastic straws, but are very generous with ice-cream making them a bit nauseating.
Basically, it's a wannabe Melbourne cafe, and if they did up the interiors to make it a bit more exciting than a plain black wall then it would almost be there. Shout out to the LED fake eddison lightbulbs!
