This years trip to my favourite city Paris coincidentally coincided with Paris Couture Week which I only realised about 3 weeks before I left!
I was lucky enough to be a guest of a fabulous friend named Fair who was invited to the Iris Van Herpen show which was on the third day of fashion week! Unfortunately I didn’t know I would be attending the show until a few days before the event... and all the options in my wardrobe were more poolside glam than couture high fashion!! When I think of couture I think of major glam, full hair and makeup- a whole lewk! Iris Van Herpen is so interesting combining fashion science and technology i somehow wanted my outfit to portray that I understood what I was going to witness. The most dressed up cocktail type dress I packed with me was a very “extra” off the shoulder dress just from ASOS, I do love it but since it’s a bit short I didn’t really want to be sitting down with so many fabulous people and be worrying about my short skirt riding up! Mum had just bought a new structural black Vivienne Westwood with interesting rouching on it. Black is definitely not a colour I ever reach for. I associate it with my work uniform and in general being boring and a bit lazy! But it was my only option and luckily Mum and I are very similar sizes so it fit well and was quite flattering on my growing crepe baby from the previous few days in Paris (haha)! I paired it with my gorgeous new python Gucci bag from the Re(Belle) collection that has a removable strap so I carried it as a clutch to the show. Before I left to Europe I bought the Tony Bianco “Barca” wedge heels which I bought to replace a similar pair of heels I took away with me to Europe in 2017 but they broke so I had to leave them behind in Italy! With a swipe of my favourite Stila lipstick in “beso” and my Red cat eye sunglasses I was pretty happy with my outfit! We arrived at the location in Montmartre at 11.50 and we knew we were in the right spot because there was a line of very interestingly dressed people standing out the front. My fabulous friend Fair was wearing a very different look to me- she was in some great Romance Was Born silky pants, a pretty pink velvet body suit and some tiny gentle monster sunnies. Of course she had a cute new Gucci bag with her as well! I felt a bit overdressed in my heels as most people were in funky runners or slides. There was some paparazzi out the front who took our photo as we were walking in- I wanted to ask them where the photos might be published but I thought that would be tres un cool of me so I kept walking hoping I wasn’t making any weird faces mid smiling or talking! Whilst in the line we watched Natalia Vodianova arrive and do her photo shoot with the paparazzi- she had like 5 poses that she hit and then she walked inside with her man by her side. Maybe next time I’m walking somewhere if I just whip out a few fierce poses in front of the cameras I’ll look like someone important!! After about ten minutes standing outside in the heat the doors were opened. We walked up some stairs into a grand old ball room filled with natural light and was slowly being filled with fabulous people. So of course we had to take some photos! When we were checking our names off the guest list I found out I would be separated from my friend- as all the plus ones filled up the back rows whereas those people fabulous enough to be invited had designated seating! I said bye to Fair and we organised our meeting place just outside once the show finished. So into a very dark and moody room I walked. I was trying so hard not to stare at the amazing people in the room. Then the worst thing imaginable happened. Well it’s not thaaat bad but as soon as it happened I was mortified. I was walking to my spot slowly taking it all in AND THEN I TRIPPED!!! My bag and phone went flying out of my hands and my sunglasses went flying off my head! A cute guy standing next to me gave me his hand to help me stand up. He asked me how I was and all I could manage to say was “I need to find my sunglasses” (which were literally right at my feet we could both see them!). Turns out I tripped on the legs of a giant spot light, thankfully it was pretty dark so I don’t think many people saw or heard the thud of me going down!! Once my heart stopped racing from the ordeal I settled in to enjoy the show. The music was intense and dramatic and almost made me feel like i was getting ready for an intergalactic expedition. On top of the runway were Perspex poles, shifting and waving around coordinated with the music almost like they were in water riding on waves. Without much warning the first look came out. I originally didn’t want to spend the whole time taking photos because I wanted to be present in the show and taking in every detail. But when the flash of the paparazzi started at the end of the runway to my left (they were all together, similarly to the media pits we have in Melbourne at VAMFF ... but like on a whole different level of course) I of course had to take out my camera too! The show went very quickly, it only took about 20 minutes. But, to top off already an amazing experience we were able to go backstage with some other media to see the gowns being packed away and interviews happening. It was just as chatoric as I expected with people pressing to get the perfect quote or the perfect backstage candid. It was quite overwhelming I didn’t really know where to look! We overheard people talking about the dior show at 2.30 at musee Rodin.. so that was my next stop! Funnily enough the same Uber that dropped me to Iris also took me to dior! But that’s another story for another day which involves me sweating through mums new dress but loving the atmosphere and watching fabulous people such Emma Roberts ! 3 weeks on and I still can’t kneel on my right knee and I still have scabs from carpet burn!!! Moral of the story, don’t think you are too cool to watch where you’re going and never not concentrate when wearing heels!

When the temperatures drop theres only one thing to do - bring out the warm jackets and layering! The lower temperatures can also mean boring outfits! The one thing you need to spice up your winter wardrobe is - a statement jacket! Seriously just throw on a fabulous jacket over literally any outfit and off you go. A great outfit can also make you feel 100x better too if you find yourself in a winter slump... Let those compliments on your amazing jacket roll in and soon enough you'll be the coolest cat in the hottest jacket! (weather puns probably aren't my forte!) Furs (including faux furs) are a great way to add interest and texture to an otherwise boring look - say with jeans and a tee. Neutrals are an easy way to introduce fur to your wardrobe, but the brighter the better we say! Not only will it brighten your mood but everyone else will be struck by such a bold choice! For some inspiration we've rounded up some amazing street style looks featuring furs and faux furs from Pinterest aka the greatest source of inspo (other than insta!) To help get you started we've also rounded up some suggestions of where to get furs from - from Sportsgirl on sale to a beautiful pastel pink Valentino hooded jacket which is aaamoizing! Stay warm look hot xoxo
Jeans and winter are a denim style staple, but sometimes it becomes just a bit boring? Sure you can jazz up your favourite jeans with some killer boots or by adding a statement coat to an otherwise plain outfit but what about keeping your favourite summer skirts in rotation? Do you dare to bare legs on those 16 degree days?
This winter, I am going to (mostly) give up wearing jeans! Why? Because there are so many more exciting outfit options to brighten your day and put a spring in your step. Keep checking back here to see how I survive this winter challenge! Will you join along with us? Day 1: 17 April Forecast: top of 16 degrees today! Layering is key Formula: chunky boots+ uniqlo heat tech tights+ black faux leather miniskirt+ bright cashmere sweater+ oversize warm jacket Winter is on its way out (finally!) so now is the time to make the most of hot chocolates, chai lattes, cozy knits and weekends in with Netflix! Don't miss you last chances of really showing off your winter style! See below for some of my favourite outfits this winter! Show off what Melbourne is known for - all black everythinggg! Mix up tones of grey, charcoal and black in different accessories for a well thought out look. Having the Arc De Triomphe in the background optional :P And when you remember that wearing all black is toatally boring, reach for your favourite statement skirt. Layer with stockings underneath because it's still winter and you need to keep warm! With warmer weather around the corner we are THIS keen to get out our summer skirts. But also sad because it means putting away our favourite chunky winter boot for a while! Pair the two together for a between season match made in heaven. The only way to get through winter is having jackets that make you happy and brighten up your dreary cold days. The fluffier and more colourful the jacket = the better you'll feel .. and maybe the more stares you'll get!!
The cold winter months seem to be never ending, with countless photos of our friends enjoying a European summer make us feel even more sorry for ourselves. Jeans and jumpers seem to be an easy combination to pull off every day and requires very little effort. Though we enjoy sweater weather and laying around feeling cozy, read on for our favourite alternative winter combos that are just as easy as jeans and jumpers but way more exciting! Brave to bear legs The key to wearing your favourite transseasonal pieces is ~LaYeRiNg~!! The easiest way to do this is by pulling up a thick pair of stockings to keep your legs warm so you can look cool AF in your favourite dresses and skirts! Seen below: Zara long sleeve floral maxi dress, Uniqlo heat tech stockings, Gucci belt, fur jacket and Guissepe Zanotti loafers Switch to Skirts Sometimes a maxi skirt can be just as cosy as a pair of jeans. Plus, when paired with a cute jumper and a jacket you can be just as warm. Roll out of bed and reach for your favourite dressy maxi skirt but keep it casual with chunky boots and an oversize jumper or jacket. Seen Below Kenzo jumper, Zimmerman skirt, Asos socks, Ralph Lauren boots Uniqlo Heat Tech Top, Zara skirt, H&M coat, Ralph Lauren boots Elevate your daily denim
On those days you really can't go past your favourite go-to jeans throw on that awesome crazy jacket that you had been saving for a special occaision. The more wow factor it has the better! Seen below Nasty Gal fur jacket, Gucci tee, Topshop jeans, Marc Jacobs bag Activewear is called active wear for a reason. Because you wear it when you are being active. I don't know about you but having brunch at 11am on Sunday is not very active. Even if you went to the gym before hand you probably had a changeroom to get changed in! Activewear looks great in context! There's nothing like seeing some bold and colourful leggings run past you around the Botanical Gardens but it's something else to see them at a cute cafe when you are celebrating your bestie's birthday! Instead of always wearing your favourite leggings and then complaining that you never wear your nice clothes, why don't you actually just wear them! Wear your newest Zimmerman skirt with a tshirt and boots for going to the supermarket, or your favourite night time jacket just for spending the day at uni. Dressing up makes you feel so empowered, and even if people do think you are overdressed just tell them you have more exciting places to be later! See below for the easiest outfits to wear to uni or brunch instead of your Activewear! Bold Jumpsuit Jumpsuits are so good because there is zero thought required. Just add shoes are you are ready to go! Wearing: Zimmerman jumpsuit, Gucci shoes, The Daily Edited bag. Mini dress + comfy jumper This combo is perfect for getting wear out of your favourite summer dress, even in the colder months. Playing with proportions is great for this look, the baggier the jumper means the skirt should be cuter and flippy too! Bonus points here if your jumper and dress are in similar colour tones. wearing: Ralph Lauren limited edition jumper; Juicy Couture strapless mini; Adidas superstars Logo tshirt + skinny jeans This is probably the easiet outfit to recreate, and in fact used to be the "it" look before Activewear took over the world! This combination can literally take you from day to night as long as you have the right footwear, like some classic pointed toe boots! wearing - tommy Hilfiger tshirt; topshop Leigh jeans; Jeffrey Campbell boots. Favourite "going out skirt" + comfy jumper The best and most effective way to wear investment pieces like statement skirts is by getting the most wear out of them as possible. If that means wearing a comfy jumper and sneakers then why not!? You'll be the belle of the brunch table this weekend with this look! wearing: ray ban sunglasses; Ralph Lauren jumper; Sass and Bide skirt; adidas superstars; Louis Vuitton neverful. Blue jeans + white shirt
Theres reason this look is so iconic- because you can literally wear it year round and fits in perfectly anywhere! Bonus points for having on trend details such as lace or frills. Blazers a like a secret weapon in our wardrobe. Putting one on not only immediately elevates your look, but also makes you feel like a real life girl boss!! Any time is blazer time, you never look out of place in a blazer. From work to after work drinks to throwing one on top of your go-to brunch outfit, there's nothing wrong with looking refined!
Pairing navy blazers with dark denim skirts to balancing it on your shoulders over a ball gown - the possibilities are endless. See below for some of our fave styling inspirations At the Fashion Weekend show this year at the Malvern Town Hall there were three key trends in the performance which highlighted many of the upcoming trends to took out for.
The three distinctive designers provided amazing pieces that you couldn’t take your eyes off. Lots of colour blocking with of reds and yellows and was popular on the runway and look very good on all the models. The next movement in the show was a very basic look but if you looked closely there were plenty of details. The main colors for this section was grey and black that were placed in shapeless jackets and coats, perfect for winter. The final key look was very retro with wire glasses and bright colors which is definitely coming into trend. The key to this look was all the small bits of accessories which subtly glinted in the lights. I wore the basic black, which you can never go wrong with. I wore a simple loose dress from glass and matched with my biggest pair of pink quay sun glasses. I also had to match it all wear a basic all black Gucci soho bag! A big thanks to high street Armadale for our tickets, it was a spectacular show and we can't wait to attend more event in the next 2 weeks! xx Gigj
Summertime is full of various music festivals, but if you spend too much time looking for outfit inspo that you end up running out of time to actually pull together an outfit then we are in the same boat! Madly packing for a New Year's music festival had us thinking of quick and easy ways to look fab and fashionable without too much effort! Read on below for some inspo Layer up with some chunky and funky necklaces! These are the easiest things to add some glam to an otherwise boring and underdressed outfit! Plus, with a Victoria Secret angel's approval it's bound to be a winner! A touch of fringe is a fun way to inject some fun festival vibes into your look. A simple lightweight vest is good for those scorching days dancing around in the sun! Bonus points for wearing a cute crop top underneath! We looove flower crowns! They are an essential summer accessory, and perfectly at home at a summery music festival! We love how Ambroso has matched her bikini top to her flower crown! How are you going to carry your essentials around all day but still be hands free? A Bum Bag! As daggy as they sound, keep your eyes peeled for an awesome one like this studded version that Kylie Jenner wore to Coachella. (Don't you love how she's wearing a chunky layered necklace and a flower crown? The perfect festival outfit! If only it was in a brighter colour though!)
Scoring an internship is such a great achievement - so congratulations! Whether or not you are working at a 'fashion' office, first impressions are so important! But of course, leaving a lasting impression is always a good thing. Looking the part for wherever you're interning will encourage people to take you more seriously, as well as give you more confidence! Day 1 is probably the hardest to dress for! And that is why a simple monogram outfit is perfect. A smart blouse and simple tailored pants create an elegant look for an office. This ruffled and off the shoulder shirt is still on trend whilst being a classic at the same time. Wearing classic flats on the first day, like these pointed toe brogues are a good way to not be overdressed on your first day - plus you get to be more comfortable! Day 2 - if you find out that your office is a little bit more dressed up - then go for it! But don't wear anything too bold or "fun", sticking to a neutral palate will mean that you still look proffessional and blend in. Colourful lipstick colours are always great for injecting your personality into the look! Wearing a simple collared shirt underneath a strapless cocktail dress creates a pulled together, suitable for any occaision outfit! Chunky heels, like these Senso Mules are perfect for standing up all day! If you find out that your office is a bit more casual, wearing a statement shirt with flared, on trend sleeves dresses up distresed denim a bit. Plus, you can never go wrong with a Gucci belt! For those colder days when you still want to leave an impression, a sequin midi skirt with basic blacks is a great outfit. Office on the top- party on the bottom! This look is great for layering; you can wear warm stockings underneath the skirt and a warm turtleneck jumper on cold days or on summery days swap out the turtleneck for bare legs and a casual t-shirt! This goes great with heels or flats as well. Pleats and colour balanced with simplicity and block colours. Nothing says confidence like standing out in a flattering and fashionable pleated skirt! People these days tend to get caught up in agreeing with what all the magazines say about who was "best dressed" at an event or what trend is "just around the corner". Read on for our very honest first thoughts when looking at some of the "best dressed" from the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival 2016 so far! 1. Jennifer Hawkins OMG she looks like a period! Sorry, did I just say that out loud?? 2. Zanita Yay now I don't have to feel pressured into wearing fake tan all summer! 3. Jessie Habermann But where's her other sleeve? 4. Olympia Vallance It's a bit TuTu much - haha 5. Aisha Jade Like the insides of a fashionable feather pillow. The Spring Racing Carnival each year is an exciting time to showcase your knowledge of trends whilst also showing off your ultimate personal style. Although every day has it's own traditional dress code (like black and white on Derby Day, and colourful on Cup day) there are still ways you can stand out from the crowd whilst doing so. Read on for some styling tips and trends we've noticed over the last year. Derby Day Because Derby Day is traditionally black and white, today is the perfect day to experiment with different textures or silhouette shapes whilst staying to the monochrome palate. If the weather is looking a bit drab, try pairing your most comfy boots with your fabulous dress for an unexpected look. Or mix a lace dress with leather accessories and a sassy headband. Melbourne Cup Day The biggest day of the season. Leave no detail forgotten, know your best sides and prepare to rub shoulders with so many fashionable people! Stand out colours with simple accessories look great today. If you're going all out with a statement dress, remember to keep your fascinator and accessories simple. On the other hand, if you're going for a large, unique headpiece keep the rest of your look toned back so that the headpiece does the talking. Bold colours or statement prints are the go to. Today is a great day to wear that colourful lipstick you haven't had the chance to wear yet! #peaceandpout Stakes Day
Otherwise known as family day, this more relaxed day is the perfect time to have some fun dressed up to your own style. You can dress it up or keep it more simple on this day, but of course don't forget to wear a fabulous fascinator! We think, whats the point of going to the races if you're not going to dress up a little bit! (Whats the point of even leaving the house if you're not going to dress up a bit!!) Last year we wore matching all white ensembles with colourful lipsticks and cute fascinators! Our fun studded oversize clutches were a nod to the current trends of the time (2015). Today we want to inspire you to maximise the wear you get out of your fave maxi skirt, or that glam statement skirt you only wear on special occasions! Feminine Tulle Skirt + Band Tee = street style hero! Its all about contrasts in this look! The more voluminous the skirt, make your accessories even more edgy. Think chunky heel boots and striking lipstick colours. Plus, to make this look work in winter, adding a pair of stockings underneath the skirt will let you look cool whilst feeling warm! Sequin Midi Skirt + T Shirt = day to night perfection Everyone has a sequin skirt in their cupboard and whether it is worn on high rotation or was a regretful purchase from your teens, this look is perfect for getting more daily wear out of your sequin skirt! Dress down the glam of the sequin skirt with a casual t shirt. Heeled boots make the perfect addition for day activities that might lead into night time fun whilst a pair of brogues or loafers can contrast the feminine nature of the skirt whilst nodding to the masculine trend. Keep accessories simple and let the sparkles do the talking! Metallic Maxi + Block Heels or Booties = modern day time princess
Summery maxi skirts in awesome metallics make the ultimate statement piece. Make this look more day time approachable by layering with denim shirts or jackets or equally sassy jumpers for cooler days. Block heeled shoes give an unexpected twist! Chunky shoes contrast the "dressed-up-ness" of the metallic skirt whilst a mid heel still makes it dressed up and portrays a confidence in your own personal style! What's your tip on getting the most out of your statement pieces? XOXO While we admire sleek, "Scandi" inspired interiors as much as the next person, there's something about luxe colours with contrasting textures that feel so exciting and refreshing.
Check out the album below for some spring update inspo! In dealing with those who are undergoing great suffering, if you feel “burnout” setting in, if you feel demoralized and exhausted, it is best, for the sake of everyone, to withdraw and restore yourself. The point is to have a long-term perspective.” ~ Dalai Lama Who doesn't love that feeling of a fresh haircut or salon manicured talons? During the depths of winter it's life's little luxuries that can help put a spring in your step even before Spring time arrives!
Read below for 3 ideas for treating yo self this winter: 1- The cold winter days can make your hair become dry, brittle and a victim of split ends. Indulging in a moisturising daily shampoo or weekly hair masque can prevent against this as well as give you some down time to yourself. If you've become envious of friends in exotic locations around the world, why not take your hair on a holiday and lighten up a bit with lightening shampoos such as John Frieda's "visibly brighter" range! 2- Sleep is always important, but there's nothing better than rugging up in bed with a hot cup of tea and a new book. Lemongrass and Ginger tea is so good for de-stressing, is caffeine free and helps boost your immune system as well as your metabolism too! If you're looking for some inspiration Sophia Amorouso's "Girl Boss" is super motivational and is full of hilarious anecdotes to brighten up your evening. 3- If you've been topping up on gradual tan to hide those glowy summer whites from your skin, why not try and brighten up your smile? A trip to get your teeth whitened can be expensive, but it is worth investing in some long term products such as Pérla Whitening's exfoliating tooth powder which you can actually see results from the first use! Pick a night this week to spend to yourself- light a scented candle and turn off all your notifications. You'll might almost feel as glowing as those friends of yours who spent two months in Euope! What are your favourite pampering products? Xx E 5 reasons to love :
1. Bali is so close to Australia compared to many other warm and tropical places like Hawaii and the Bahamas. This is a total bonus because it is a direct and easy flight that goes by so quickly that you forget about the plane ride because once you arrive, you are soaked, literally, in the hot and humid weather 2. There is never a cold day. While in Bali it rained twice and only did the weather drop a degree. The coldest day I had in Bali was 27° and it wasn't even raining. So if you get to Bali and there is unexpected rain you will no doubt find the heat exhaustingly nice. Even the rain in Bali is warm. 3. The people in Bali are so nice! Every street you walk down you will see smiling faces and welcoming hi's and hello's. Not once did I encounter a rude local or hotel guest and that makes the whole atmosphere of Bali so much nicer and welcoming. Bali is so diverse and everyone is always ready for a chat! 4. Wherever you dine in Bali you will never be disappointed! The food in Bali is so amazing and diverse, every restaurant and cafe has a different flavour or culture to offer, you are always surrounded by wonderful smells and culture! 5. It is sooo relaxing. I found myself multiple times throughout my trip doing nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing, just soaking in some vitamin d and founding a new admiration for palm trees. It is so nice to have a break from a busy city life style and to purely go sit and be with your thoughts! Reasons against : 1. Bali is actually badly polluted. Walking down the street to get the the shopping areas is not so pleasant (Seminyak) because you walk past polluted rivers/streams that run into the ocean that are filled with rubbish and it is a horrible sight to see locals throwing rubbish into them like it is a tip. Not only are the rivers and stream polluted but sometimes you will get a whiff of sewerage and it is no surprise to see open sewerage pipes… It definitely puts you off 2. A tip for Bali is to avoid taxis as much as you can. There is an unthinkable amount of traffic constantly blocking the roads of Bali and you will often find yourself in a standstill realising that it would probably be faster for you to get out of the cab and walk. But a plus of being in a taxi is that most of them have very efficient air conditioning so if you go out in the middle of the day, get a taxi to avoid over heated. 3. Being on the street of Bali is dangerous. It is rare to find a proper sidewalk where drivers are fully aware of the pedestrians. When walking on the street you always have to be so aware of your surrounding because there is always that motorcyclist or driver who doesn't really know what their doing that will come hurdling down the road. 4. You can't go out at night alone. Upon arrival at your hotel or villa you are advised not to go out at night but if you are to do so then to go in a group. As the side walks of Bali are basically non-existent it makes pedestrians invisible to drivers and the last thing you want is to be injured on your holiday. Not only is walking on the streets dangerous but foreigners are often targeted for robberies so you are recommended to always have a tight grip on your bag. But be reminded that not every local is out to get you! 5. You can't drink tap water. It is very dangerous to drink the tap water in Bali because it is not always filtered properly so this means that there is all kind of harmful bacteria in the water which can end up giving you the infamous 'Bali belly'. It is annoying always having to get bottled water or carry it around but it is a safety precaution that everyone should take So this leaves you with an important question; is it really worth going to Bali? Well, yes! Living in Melbourne means living in cold conditions so it is nice to go into a nice tropical place with great food and without the price tag of a trip to Europe! Sleek, modern watches have become a must have. Simply buckling up a simple watch immediately elevates your look.
Here are 3 reasons why you need a simple watch to add to your accessories on high rotation. Plus, a photo gallery of outfits that would look better with a watch. 1. If your phone dies you will still be able to know what the time is! Don't rely on your smartphone to tell you how late you are running to brunch! 2. When you snap photos of your pretty latte art, you can add your wrist candy proudly into the photo to add interest 3. Watches can add polish to a simple jeans and tee look or they can refine your sophisticated day wear Read below to find out top tips for packing, that we know we should follow! Keep that suitcase packed with the essentials and with plenty of room for shopping!!!
1. Leave behind that one outfit you might wear just incase you find a nightclub on that desert island. There's nothing worse than stumbling home at night in heels in your own town, why would you want to do that in a foreign country? Also, don't bother taking your entire contouring kit or your top 7 colours of lipstick. Take your must haves for a fresh day to day look, top off with your favourite lipstick for an elevated night look. 2. Don't take any bags that don't fit your phone, camera, cash, water bottle and phone. What's the point otherwise? 3. Pack one pair of sunglasses that go with every potential outfit. At home you might match your sunglasses to your outfits but why bother keeping track of four different sunnies as you move inbetween locations. Take a classic pair that goes with everything and don't let them out of your sight 4. Similarly, dont take any jewellery that has any sentimental value. What if you leave it behind in a hotel or if it gets stolen off you? Take some a cute cuff bracelet or a statement necklace to pop on at night. Don't lose track of how many rings you take- they're the easiest to lose! Even better, don't take any jewlery so you can pick up a few unique pieces throughout your trip as souvenirs! ( Eliza has started collecting rings from holidays, her favourite is a huge amethyst from Byron Bay in 2014 or an Alexander McQueen skull ring from Kuala Lumpur in 2016!). 5. You don't need to go and buy 17 new outfits for your 3 week holiday that you've spent all year saving up for! If you must buy one new piece to show off on your Instagram and Facebook DP update, make sure it is something versatile - a piece you can wear all day to the beach and then to the local bar to get cocktails. Or a beautiful top that goes well with dressy skirts or denim cut offs to keep it casual! What's your trick for packing lightly with an edited wardrobe? Tel us your go to outfit for summer destinations in the comments! Love, Eliza and Gigi Putting glitter in your hair is the perfect way to hide greasy hair, regrowth, or even just a fun way to dress up a weekend outfit.
This trend has been championed by Miley Cyrus, Rita Ora and even Leona Lewis, as well as, of course various beauty bloggers across the internet. Who doesn't love a bit of glitter, either a delicate line expertly positioned down a dramatic side part, or a glamorous smattering of glitter across the head. This look is super easy to recreate and just as easy to wash out, but it can last up to four days if you want it to!) 1- Define your part properly with a comb - the more precisely you do this the better it will look 2- Use a generous amount of hair gel in the areas that you want to set the glitter in 3- Sprinkle glitter or use an eye makeup brush to paint glitter down the part and gently spread out across the top of hair. Fine glitter of one colour, or one colour that reflects different colours looks best; a colour that contrasts the colour of your hair is most striking. 4- Top up with some glitter stars or similar for more detail 5- Set with hair spray 6- Make sure you take plenty of selfies to document your amazing creation Do try this next time you're putting together an outfit!! xoxo Eliza The nude dressing trend is not an oxymoron! It is a refined outfit that screams, elegant, relaxed and luxurious. Kim Kardashian has been wearing many combinations of the neutral nude palate in her outfits, mixing different shades of nudes together to create stylish and minimalistic looks. Nude dresses and skirts were great to show off tanned and toned bodies in summer, and nude coloured heels are the perfect styling trick to faking long legs. As Australian weather turns colder it is clear that this trend is developing into a more relaxed and chic look rather than the previously rigidity of the start of the trend last year. Lets think oversized camel coats paired with blue jeans and funky boots, white skinny jeans with nude coloured jumpers or even tan leather skirts with pastel coloured jumpers. You can either give a nod to the trend by pairing a nude bag with an oversized nude jacket or go all out and match nude leggings to a beige cardigan. With a trend so flattering on all skin colours, shapes and sizes its no wonder than this trend is sticking around. Check the gallery below from some outfit inspo, and follow the link to see my favourite affordable nude jacket from Peppermayo ! xoxo E So you've seen the bevy of street style stars wearing chokers and want to know how to make one yourself? It's literally as easy as tying some cute ribbon around your neck! Click through the gallery to see the steps Don't forget to check out our other post on chokers! http://twocogsinawheel.weebly.com/adventures--fashion/choker-necklaces Choker necklaces are coming back thanks to the 90s trend of the moment.
Even by adding the smallest detail to your outfit, your entire look can be bought together. A hint of grunge to that otherwise girly outfit adds a touch of the unexpected. A slither of black velvet to top of a low neck top adds a bit of allure. Chokers are more than a nod to an era of fashion, they are part of the puzzle that makes someone's seem so "cool". The "cool" girls of our time, including Gigi Hadid, Lily Rose Depp, Kendall Jenner, Miranda Kerr, Behanti Prinsloo, Selena Gomez have all repeatedly worn chokers not just as a street style accessory, but as part of their red carpet looks too! If black velvet is just too much grunge for you to handle, a gilded choker is a fabulous modern take on the trend. See the gallery below for some #inspo! Would you rock a choker? The Melbourne Fashion Festival 2016 was full of instagrammable street style and some very prominent trends.
THE 3 F'S OF MELBOURNE FASHION IN 2016 After combing through the official hashtag of the week to see the most popular #streetstyle, and through my own attendance at a few of the shows throughout the week, it was easy to pick up on the three main themes - which I have attempted to label with an f for the sake of alliteration. Fe/Male - Structured blazers dominated the runways whilst comfortable loafers dominated the street style scene. Blazers are always are closet staple to elevate even the simplest outfit of blue jeans and a tee, but when paired with some masculine inspired comfy shoes you will look as if you had stepped right out of a carefully curated styling session or photoshoot. (image: Bianca Spender) Fringe - A more focused approach to details has emerged over the last few seasons and it seems to have manifested itself by the appearance of fringes on everythingggg!!! On da street scene we saw expertly ripped denim skirts and jeans which give a fabulous "je ne said quoi" aura whilst on the runway elegant fringes flowed from the bottoms of skirts and added texture to simple t-shirts. Funky Boots - Okay so this doesn't really fit to the "f" thing I was going for, but lets face it, Thigh High Boots are back as a force to be reckoned with. The patent leather booties with perspex heels that first emerged at the Dior AW15 show are kinda cool (and kinda ugly), but over the knee boots are just so much cooler and add a touch of sex appeal to that girly pastel Zimmerman dress sitting in your cupboard with the tag still on it!! Another great thing about over the knee boots is that they only expose a small portion of skin between your skirt/shorts/dress and the top of the boot, which gives a super flattering illusion that you are a) super slim and b) very tall - whats not to love? Un(Functional) - Wearing a jacket over your shoulders looks awesome, and is functional in the sense that it adds an extra layer to an outfit without it dominating the look, but I really just have to pose the question: HOW DO YOU DO MOVE AROUND AND DO THINGS WITHOUT WORRYING IF THE JACKET IS GOING TO FALL OFF EVERY TWO SECONDS!? This is the question that keeps me up at night!! Did you go to any of the Melbourne Fashion Festival shows? What did you wear? If you are looking for an all natural and vegan friendly skincare routine, look no further than Nu'trir's range. Perfect for those who want to be #nourishedbynature. Every night I use the nourishing cleansing oil and every morning I follow the cleansing oil with an application of the Day cream. It is these products I have to thank for rarely ever getting blemishes!
Unlike many other cleansers on the market, the Nourishing Cleansing Oil doesn't leave your skin feeling dry and dull, instead it makes you feel refreshingly cleansed as if you have just gone for a swim in a fresh water lake! However on the other side, it is not entirely effective at removing heavy layer of makeup, so sometimes I remove my makeup with a stronger cleanser and follow with the cleansing oil. The hydrating Day Cream is a perfect primer to wear under makeup or even on its own. Containing iron oxides, this cream has a slight tinted colour which adjusts to your skin tone. It doesn't leave your skin oily but instead gives a fresh and youthful glow. Without having any parabens, sulphates, petrochemicals, petroleum, SLS, mineral oils, silicones, phthalates, PEG’s, artificial colours and fragrances and no testing on animals, this is definitely one of our favourite beauty products that we have been using for years now. What's your favourite beauty product? Note: * nu’trir Detoxifying Enzymatic Masque contains Manuka Honey, therefore this product is not vegan friendly* |
