It's been a year since our inaugural fake tan review ( you can read it here http://twocogsinawheel.weebly.com/fashion/best-fake-tans). In that time we've had many home tanning mishaps, tried some good tans and tried some bad ones. So, read on to hear about our Year in (tan) Review! We love love love the whole pure tan range! The one hour dark tan is definitely the best we tried this year (as a little sample in our order of swimmers of Bondi Venus!). It is super dark and gives you so much confidence knowing your tan looks totally natural. There is no overpowering or tell tale tan smell and there is a subtle shimmer meaning you will really be glowing! There's also a gradual tan with SPF which is perfect for daily use in summer and a matching face tan as well! Even better to know it is not tested on animals :) Bondi Sands is everyone's go to for good reason - it does the job. But a Bondi Sands tan never looks natural. It smells great- but it smells like fake tan which isn't what you want when you are going for a natural look. If you're not going for a natural look and just want to look daaark then you'll probably keep going back to it time and time again! Picked up a Model Co tanning show bag at the Melbourne Show earlier this year and we were impressed with the results! Even though it did have a very overpowering fake tan smell, we've never had so many compliments about our tan! That being said, it doesn't look totally natural but it is a really reliable one to use! Le Tan has been our longest relationship with a tan! It is super reliable and we always keep a bottle in the back of our cupboard just in case! You will probably need two coats to get the colour you want, but at least you know it is reliable and does the job!
Whats your favourite brand of tan? Any essential tips we need to know for application? Charcoal has been used in many different products from charcoal infused water to toothbrushes, now Charcoal in skincare routines is becoming a popular thing.
Why is Charcoal so good for your skin? Not only is it a striking black colour, making Charcoal face masks a perfect selfie accessory, but it actually has many purifying properties. Charcoal is really good at absorbing oil - it is 200 times better at doing so than any other ingredient. This means that it is perfect as a cleanser for those with problem T-zones, or oily/combination skin. With this power at drawing out oil and dirt from clogged pores means you don't have to use it every day to see differences. We have been using the Biore range for a few months now and our skin is seriously super bright, clear and smooth to touch. The Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser from Biore works into a nice lather leaving your skin feeling clean without being too dry. The Charcoal Pore Minimiser is great to use as a weekly detox for your skin. With micro crystals it is great to exfoliate your face with on Sunday night so you can feel fresh for the week ahead. Would you try adding Charcoal products into your skincare routine? Last week we tried out the $100 Beauty Collection, read on for what we thought! This multi pack is jam packed with products - apparently valued at over $209, so more than half price is pretty good! It is actually two gift packs put together with a few extras: The Complexion Essentials Starter Kit and the Essential Brush Set plus a pressed mineral cover foundation, pressed mineral bronzer and pressed mineral setting powder. The Essential Brush Set is probably our favourite part of this set. We aren't makeup experts so these brushes are perfect, with brushes ranging from a specific concealer brush to an eyeshadow blending brush. The pretty metallic detailing on the brushes add a high end luxe feel and the softness of the bristles is to die for! The brushes do their job, the powder brush does pick up a lot of product but it blends well. The primer comes in a really small tube which you might think will run out quickly, but you only need such a small amount because it smooths over your skin so easily allowing for an even makeup application. I chose the "medium" shade of this kit and probably should have gone with light. That being said, the buildable nature of the foundation means it can be just a light cover up or full coverage if you want. The bronzer however was quite chalky and didn't blend easily. On the first go soo much fell onto our cheeks that we were super orange, but with some persistence it brushed out! I definitely found a difference with the setting powder, meaning that the makeup stayed on all day... mostly... I think my nose just gets so oily during the day that nothing can help it! Topping up with the setting powder from the mini tubs that are great handbag companions worked out to be a good idea. Overall, this pack is great value for money. Personally, I've never really understood the allure of "mineral" makeup and whenever I've tried it from other brands it has never stayed on, but this pack includes the setting powder which made a great difference! 7/10 I don't think I'll buy this again but I've got so much product to last me forever so I might not even need to! ps. You can buy the set here: https://nudebynature.com.au/shop/make-up/top-products/best-sellers/beauty-collection/#1xum52OqpXKWap88.97 When Biore asked us to try out some of their new ranges we were super excited but also a little bit scared! We all get stuck into routines that we think are working but never really think to ever mix it up a little bit!
Baking soda is an essential to any chef's pantry cupboard, but it can also become an essential in your beauty routine! Baking soda is a great gentle exfoliator, it can help draw out pesky black heads and helps to absorb oil to prevent pore clogging. After using the Baking Soda Pore Cleanser every day and the cleansing scrub twice a week for a fortnight I can already feel my skin begin to clear up and it feels so much fresher. The Pore Cleanser is great for removing makeup and the gentle exfoliating properties of it ensures that your face is left feeling sparkling clean and fresh. You only need half a pump to lather your whole face. Bonus points for smelling so fresh too! The Exfoliating Powder is a bit trickier - it is just a dry powder that you mix with water yourself. It took us a few goes to work out that you only need a tiny tiny amount of the powder in your hand to mix with water in order to make enough mix for your face! It is a bit of novel fun having to mix it yourself, but it is actually really effective for treating problem areas a few times a week or even preventing break outs! Overall for my skin these products have actually really brightened up my skin and I haven't got a pimple since using it! I have combination skin that is oily in my T-zone and the exfoliating nature of the products has really agreed with my skin. When was the last time you tried a new product? From Eliza Don't you love that post holiday glow with lighter hair and darker skin?
Can't catch any summer sun this winter but still want you hair to have that natural sun kissed hair? The Visibly Brighter range from John Frieda is a holiday for your hair! For natural, non coloured hair it makes any natural streaks slightly lighter, adding to that holiday hair vibe. It is perfectly safe for coloured hair - from highlights to balyage! Using it as part of your regular routine makes the difference quite obvious, but with my coloured hair using it once a week keeps my blonde looking fresh and vibrant! The shampoo and conditioner have a great sweet smell without being overwhelming. The conditioner itself seems to be decieving - it makes your hair feel super silky smooth while you let it sink in, but when you wash it out it feels like it hasn't even conditioned your hair at all! But that's the trick, once your hair is dry it feels fresh and soft like you've just stepped out of your hairdresser! { Also don't be scared by the green tinge that comes out in the shampoo ! It won't stain your hands or shower! } It is a bit more expensive than other varieties available at supermarkets and chemists but for the quality it is pretty worth it. |
